Yvon Adams and exquisite pieces of jewllery

I think you'll agree with me when I say that these pieces are so absolutely beautiful. Yvon's still working on her website but when it's up and running, be sure to check it out. Her pieces are beautiful.

Blogger Trouble - and exquisite pieces

What can I say! I haven't updated my blog because I haven't been able to find it!!! Now that it's decided to visit me from cyberspace, I can't seem to get anything to happen as I want it! So let me see if I can give a quick run down of the amazing things that have happened since September. The first thing of course, is that I've had an exhibition and have also exhibited a small showing from Yvon Adams and Jeanne Wilson. Yvon is the creator of Glamorous Glass. Beautiful necklaces and earrings made from dichroic glass, with the most amazing colours tucked away inside. It's worth a picture and then I'll move on with a whole new post!

Spring has sprung, the grass has riz, I wonder where the birdies is!

September! Where was my good intention to keep this blog totally up to date? I wonder what happened. Whatever it was, it didn't do my blog any good because last post, was August 4th. However, if a pitiful excuse is required, then I have been very, very busy indeed. Painting and yet more painting for an exhibition that is FINALLY coming to pass. The advertisement will go into the papers next weekend, with Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday afternoon openings, 12 noon to 4pm in the last week of September and the 1st week of October. The paintings are ~ of course ~ flowers. Big, bright, bold and beautiful. There will also be a couple of surprise exhibitors. The people on our island are so incredibly talented and I'm delighted that Studio 123 provides an opportunity for others to show their wares also. Please keep an eye on this bog and with good luck and a fair breeze, I'll be madly blogging as I'm madly painting, madly gardening and madly living. Huh. Should be fun!

She who blogs on Monday has all the week to write....

to paraphrase an old nursery rhyme relating to tardiness! I really thought I had it down to blog every Monday but here we are, it's Thursday, two weeks later. Oh well. I've another blogging workshop with Tina this Saturday and who knows, maybe I'll find some extra hints on keeping up!
I'm painting like a crazed being at the moment, in the hope that the exhbition I had set down for 1st May, then 1st June, then 1st July then 1st August and now, 1st of September or really, Friday the 3rd, will actually happen. Everything is crossed. I'm hoping to again exhibit other works of art by some of the very talented people in our community. My December exhibition also showed works by Leslie Jenkins. Plaiting or weaving of the island flax is a traditional art for our culture and Leslie's plaiting is really fine. She displayed half a dozen hats with different styles and decorations. All the hats were in the natural colours of the dried flax but she had trimmed two of them with pieces that she had hand dyed ~ one in red and one in blue. I'll try very hard to get a photo out of her because they were spectacular.

Creative Me!

Okay, I've just uploaded another three paintings. Just for something completely different, they're frangipani!! The set of three are quite small measuring 8" x 8", 4" x 4" and 6" x 4". Quite sweet and I paint quite a few of them. Great gift for someone visiting Norfolk; a Norfolker visiting another country; a housewarming; a birthday ~ actually ~ for anything! I've received a few commissions for them in specific colour schemes and tones. All commissions graciously received.

Hi and Bye, July

At our Blogging Workshop, one of the things that we were told is VERY important, is to frequently update your blog. Hmm. Last updated 29 June. If I wait until next Friday I could be a whole month behind! I've been to Darwin for a quick trip and as on past visits, I found it very inspirational. Darwin has many gallery's and art is everywhere. I purchased a painting by Northern Territorian artist Kit McNeil, which is a beautiful scene of the sea, waves and rocky shoreline with a MAGNIFICENT pool with reflection. Stunning. A very happy birthday present to myself. I've come home all enthusiastic for a new exhibition at Studio 123. Again, mostly flowers and again, mostly frangipani. I'm also getting alot of pleasure painting small canvas's and creating art whimsy. As Charlie said in Two and a Half Men, "..we can all stand a little whimsy!" I'm adding some older paintings and will upload my more recent paintings, after the exhibition which I'm hoping will be sometime in August. I would also like to exhibit pieces created by other Island artists. We have so many talented people here on Norfolk.

Frangipanis and Magnolias

As you can see I'm still having my love affairs with frangipanis, but this time, instead of self framed canvas, I've framed it in a silver rope frame.

The magnolia is from a tree outside our beautiful St Barnabas Chapel, and the frame I've used is an ornate celtic frame, which suits the opulent beauty of the magnolia grandiflora.

Mother's Day and Roses

It's coming up to Mother's Day. How many of us think of roses at this time. Allow me to share two roses paintings with you.

This one is now owned by two gorgeous young men in Canada

Beautiful comment

I've asked a couple of people to check out my blog to see how it looks to the viewer. My very dear friend Alma has emailed a comment, which I simply must post.
"Such vibrant paintings - I am pleased to be the proud possessor of two!! There is a quotation "Nature I loved, And after Nature, Art". What a wonderful gift to be able to recreate nature through Art - whilst the flower withers and dies, your Art is everlasting!!" How beautiful is that, and aren't I blessed to have such a friend.

Blogger workshop

Having attended Mary and Christina Rose's workshop yesterday evening, I'm hoping to upgrade my blog to make it much more interesting to viewers. All I have to do now, is work out what on earth they were trying to teach me. Shouldn't take me more than a couple of months!

Frangipani's in gold frames

You might think that painting frangipanis over and over becomes automatic. This isn't the case. Like faces, each flower has a different vibration and to capture that individuality is the challenge that faces the artist. Most of my recent paintings have been on self framed canvas, so I've decided to try something different. I like it!

Yellow roses and Master Kathumi

There are several magnificent yellow rose bushes in the garden and I was moved one afternoon to paint them. The outcome was very large roses on a very large canvas painted with very large brushes. The energies of the Ascended Master, Lord Kathumi is very evident in this painting. It makes you smile, with very little effort.

Phillip Island and Frangipanis

As I said earlier, I can try very hard to move away from the beautiful flower of the frangipani tree, but I still return. Philip Island is all encompassing from my home on the clifftop of the southern end of the island. It doesn't matter where you look, Philip looms with her energies of ancient wisdom. Evidently my grandmother, who also lived at Flagstaff, was an artist and often painted the island. How can you not, when it's everywhere, you look! So. I've painted Philip and guess what? Yep. I've added frangipani!!!!!

Moving into yellow

Ha! ...and I've done it, all by my little self!
Sometimes, I find that it's the colours that drive the painting. This session was obviously a yellow time and the influence of the sunny colours of summer are very strong. I've uploaded the iris horizontally and as soon as I can find a mentor I'll try my best to turn it around, right side up!
and as I said, the next paintings were again, frangipanis. There are many beautiful flowers and wonderful views to paint on this island, but the flowering frangipani just seems to call me.

Other than frangipani's in Art

The Chinese say that we need three things for art: head, hands and heart. My head and hands can paint almost anything, but my heart will continually come back to frangipanis. Sometimes, it will allow a detour and I want to share some of these with you, because my next post will most likely be...... frangipanis......

More paintings.....

It's time to add more paintings of the wild and beautiful tropical flowers of Norfolk Island. Their vibrancy astounds the visitors who come to our island, and hopefully, my paintings will give you a taste of their glorious colours.

Studio 123 at 123 Collins Head Road, Norfolk Island

Wow! Have my sons Cottage at 123 Collins Head Road, Norfolk Island, so I've opened it as an Art Gallery - Exhibition Centre, for my paintings. It's located at 123 Collins Head Road, so I've named it Studio 123. I've also had a wonderful time in the yard which was two acres of lawn. I've been very successful in planting frangipanis along the driveway and I'm sure he'll be delighted with this!!!!! I love painting frangipanis. They are so delightfully lovely, frangrant, simple and sunny. Check some of them out if you please, and let me know what you think.
